Corporate Profile Writing Support

What you get with Corporate Profile Writing Support

A corporate profile is the standing description of a company: what it sells, who runs it, what it has done, and what it can be trusted to deliver. The same core text is reused as an About page, the boilerplate paragraph at the foot of a press release, a tender annex and an investor one-pager, so it has to be accurate, dated and consistent everywhere it lands. AMDEX Scholar Labs supports students who need one for a definite reason — an entrepreneurship or new-venture module, a placement and work-based learning report, an incubator or startup competition entry, or a family firm that has never written its history down. We work from the brief and the source documents you supply: Companies House filings, an EDGAR Form 10-K, board papers, founder interviews, an old brochure. From there we explain the structure, work parallel examples, and coach or proofread the draft you write.
  • Guidance built around your own brief and your marking rubric
  • Matched to a specialist who works in your subject area
  • Referencing explained and checked in your institution’s style — APA, MLA, Harvard, Chicago and more
  • Feedback on your drafts while there is still time to act on it
  • Worked examples supplied as labelled models to study and cite, never to submit
  • Human expertise — nothing here is generated by AI

What do you need assistance with?

What actually goes into a corporate profile, section by section?

A working profile has a fixed spine. Open with a verification block — registered name exactly as filed, company or registration number, incorporation date, registered office, legal form, and the industry code your jurisdiction uses (a SIC code at Companies House, a NAICS code in the United States). After that comes a one-sentence positioning line, a "what we do" section split by service line rather than by internal department, a dated milestone list, leadership bios, evidence of delivery, and a contact block. Everything after the verification block is argument. Everything inside it is fact a reader can check against a public register, which is why it goes first.
  • Verification block: registered name, company number, incorporation date, registered office, legal form, SIC or NAICS code
  • Positioning statement: one sentence, no adjective you cannot evidence
  • Service lines: what is sold, to whom, and how it is delivered
  • Milestones: dated, sourced, one line each
  • Leadership bios: parallel in length, order and tense across the whole team
  • Evidence of delivery: named engagements, sectors served, scale indicators
  • Contact block: legal entity, address, jurisdiction-correct phone and registration details

How is a capability statement different from a company profile?

It is shorter, harder-edged and written for a buyer rather than a browser. A US capability statement is conventionally held to one page and carries the fields a contracting officer screens on: core competencies, past performance, differentiators and company data — including the SAM.gov Unique Entity ID, the twelve-character government-issued identifier that replaced the DUNS number across SAM.gov and the Integrated Award Environment on 4 April 2022, plus your CAGE code and registered NAICS codes. In the UK the equivalent gate is the Procurement Specific Questionnaire, which replaced the Standard Selection Questionnaire when the Procurement Act 2023 went live on 24 February 2025, with notices published on Find a Tender. A profile persuades; a capability statement gets you past a filter.

How do you write leadership bios that are not padding?

Fix a template and hold it across every person. Third person throughout, the same length for each bio — a common house rule is roughly 90 to 120 words, with extra room only for a founder — and the same running order: current role and remit, time in it, the two or three prior roles that explain the current one, qualifications with the awarding institution, and one non-obvious line if the brief asks for it. Cut anything you could not evidence from a CV, a filing, or the person themselves. Capitalise job titles consistently and name each person identically wherever they appear. Our CV and résumé support applies the same discipline to individuals.

Where should the facts, dates and milestones come from?

Primary filings first. In the UK, the Companies House register gives the incorporation date, the officers and the filed accounts; the strategic report required by section 414A of the Companies Act 2006, whose contents are prescribed by section 414C, and the section 172(1) statement required by section 414CZA for companies above medium-sized, show how a board describes its own priorities in its own words. For US-listed firms, Item 1 (Business) of the annual Form 10-K, drafted against Regulation S-K Item 101, is the company's own account of its operations, while Item 1A sets out the risks it admits to. Cross-check every milestone date against a filing or dated release. If the profile sits inside assessed coursework, those sources need citing — see how the main referencing styles compare.

Does the profile change if it is aimed at investors rather than clients?

Yes, substantially. A client-facing profile leads with capability and proof of delivery: service lines, sectors, named engagements, scale. An investor-facing profile leads with the business model and the arithmetic under it. The nine blocks of the Business Model Canvas (Osterwalder and Pigneur, Business Model Generation, 2010) work well as a coverage checklist — customer segments, value proposition, channels, customer relationships, revenue streams, key activities, key resources, key partners, cost structure. Where sustainability claims appear, anchor them to a framework rather than to adjectives: the GRI Universal Standards (GRI 1, 2 and 3, effective 1 January 2023), or IFRS S1 and S2, effective for annual reporting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2024.

Can you write the profile if it is part of my assessed coursework?

No. Where the profile is graded work, support stays on the method side: explaining the structure, marking up a parallel example built around a different company so nothing transfers verbatim, reading the brief with you, and proofreading and commenting on the draft you have written. That marked-up example stays what it is — an annotated profile of a company you are not writing about, labelled a reference document, never a draft of yours. The test for which mode applies is where the finished text goes: if it goes to a marker and is judged against the module's assessment criteria, it is assessed work; if it goes to the company itself — one you actually run, an incubator application, a tender annex — fuller drafting assistance is appropriate. Related structural work sits under report writing support; send the module brief and every destination the profile has to serve via contact us, and we will tell you which side of that line yours falls on.

Corporate Profile Writing Support: common questions

It depends on where the text lands, not on how large the company is. The boilerplate paragraph closing a press release usually runs 80 to 100 words. An About page section commonly sits between 300 and 600. A capability statement is conventionally held to a single page. A full profile document for a tender annex or investor pack often runs six to twelve pages including the milestone timeline and bios. Draft the longest version first, then cut to each target.

Not necessarily. A narrative profile can be built entirely from public filings, service descriptions and interviews. If figures are wanted, draw them from filed accounts rather than an internal spreadsheet so the numbers match what a reader can look up, and state the financial year each belongs to. Redact anything commercially confidential before sending source material, and label unaudited management figures as unaudited wherever they appear.

Either, but pick one and hold it through every section, including headings, captions and the timeline. That covers spelling (organisation or organization), date format, number style and whether the serial comma is used. Legal entity suffixes are not a style choice: write Ltd, LLC, GmbH, Pty Ltd, or the UAE free zone forms FZE, FZCO and FZ-LLC exactly as they appear on the registration certificate, even where they clash with the chosen variety.

A brief and the source material. The brief should name every destination the text has to serve — About page, press-release boilerplate, tender annex, investor one-pager — since each carries its own length ceiling and register while the milestone list stays identical across all of them. Source material means the registration certificate or filing, any existing profile or brochure, leadership names, titles and qualifications spelled exactly as they should print, dated milestones with something behind each one, and your current draft if you have written one.

Yes, and that is much of the proofreading pass. Company name identical in every instance including its legal suffix; job titles capitalised the same way throughout; acronyms defined at first use and used thereafter; date ranges styled consistently; milestone years agreeing with the timeline; bios matching in length, tense and person; and cross-references pointing where they claim to. Inconsistency in a profile reads as carelessness about facts.
